Where It All Started
“I’ve been in the veterinary field for over 10 years,” said Airvet’s Clinical Operations Manager. “I started as an intern, became an assistant in Georgia, then worked as a technician in Texas.” Her clinical experience focused on small animal general practice—but the odd exotic patient was always a treat. “A bird, snake, or even a hamster—it was always exciting.”
That on-the-floor experience sparked something bigger. “Over time, I realized how much I loved improving the systems around us.” She transitioned into tech, starting as an Implementation Specialist at ezyVet and later managing the PiMS at BetterVet. “That’s where I found my passion—making veterinary operations smoother and smarter through technology.”
Today, she leads clinical operations at Airvet, a telehealth platform connecting pet parents with licensed veterinarians across the US and Canada. “We’re helping people in real-time and supporting preventative care too. Companies like Manulife and Synchrony offer Airvet as a fully funded employee benefit.”

The Challenge
Airvet’s On Demand Network lets veterinarians toggle online and offline to support pet parents when it matters most. But that flexibility brings new challenges—especially around recruiting.
“We knew we needed something better than job boards,” she explained. “We wanted to find veterinarians who were licensed in the right states, available at the right times, and excited about telemedicine.”
That’s where Scout came in.
Enter Scout by Hound
“Scout is one of the easiest platforms I’ve ever used,” she said. “The filters are powerful, the interface is intuitive, and it’s clearly built with real-world teams in mind.”
The platform helped Airvet recruit with precision.
“In 2024, we wanted to expand into more states where telemedicine is allowed and where we could establish a virtual VCPR. Scout helped us move fast.”
Magic Moments
“We’ve had some really amazing wins on Scout,” she said.
“Dr. Tammy Heerkens came to us through Hound. She’s licensed in Hawaii and offers relief services. When we had a dip in overnight coverage, she stepped in and made an immediate difference for pet parents.”
Another standout?
“Dr. Nicole Mussnug also joined us through Hound. She’s passionate about behavioral consults and has a Human-Animal Bond Certification. Her licenses in Florida and Maine helped us expand our reach and offer more meaningful guidance to pet parents dealing with behavior concerns.”
A True Partnership
It wasn’t just the tool that made a difference—it was the people.
“The ability to share feedback has been huge. Meghan is incredible. She’s always available, super helpful, and genuinely wants to improve the experience. When we flag something that could make Scout even better, the team listens. That’s rare.”
